Vladimir Putin Highlights Social Architecture as a High-Demand and Promising Field
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin sent a welcoming message to the participants, organizers, and guests of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Social Architecture: Theory and Practice of Social Change”, which takes place on 5–6 December at St. Petersburg State University (SPbU).
Alexander Kharichev, Head of the Presidential Directorate for Monitoring and Analysis of Social Processes, read out the address during the opening ceremony.
"This forum has brought together politicians, scholars, experts, and think-tank representatives from Russia and around the world to discuss a wide range of issues surrounding the emergence and development of social architecture – a field that is both in high demand and full of promise – as well as its role within state and local governance," President Putin noted in his address.
He emphasized that the plenary sessions, panel discussions, as well as open debates, would allow participants to study examples of successful solutions to complex socially significant issues and of designing changes that make life better.
"I would like to highlight that our country has already built up substantial experience in implementing social architecture projects. These initiatives help unlock the potential of our regions, cities, and towns, allowing us to respond quickly to people's needs and introduce effective feedback mechanisms. Furthermore, they create a strong foundation for civic initiatives and foster productive collaboration between the state and society. We are fully ready to share this expertise with our international partners," the President added.
The Head of State also expressed confidence that this inaugural international conference on social architecture would become a regular event, helping to foster a broad international dialogue in the field.
The conference "Social Architecture: Theory and Practice of Social Change" brings together 600 participants – researchers from the social sciences and humanities, experts, and representatives from political institutions and think tanks. Among them are renowned Russian and international scholars from 27 countries, including China, Brazil, the US, Iran, France, Italy, Spain, South Korea, Vietnam, and Pakistan.
The event will address key issues within social architecture – an innovative academic and professional field that has been actively developing in Russia in recent years. A central focus of the discussions will be modelling the future development of society, defining the role of values, and examining how different civilizations and cultures interact in today's multipolar world.
